Recently my friend Alex Schenk asked if I wanted to join her and one of her other friends in a writing prompt challenge. They had picked a prompt to start off of and you just had to write from that one idea. Being a writer who is trying to get back into the groove of writing I agreed to join.
Within the week I had taken the time to start on this prompt. As with life things seemed to have gotten into the way of me finishing up the writing on this prompt. Here it is a month or two after she had asked if I wanted in on this and I have not finished the prompt writing.
As with most things in life I would rather continue to work on something over time and eventually complete it, than to just give up on something even if it has taken me an extra long time to complete. If I leave something and never return to it I feel like…well actually I am not really sure what it makes me feel, but I do not like to leave things like that. I have to eventually find a way to complete something that I have started.
With that being said I had the idea and as of right now I am not sure exactly how I am going to go about it. I will need to look into ways to make this work, but I would like to pick a prompt once a month and anyone who would like to join in can write on this prompt. I think taking a month to write on one will be good. Once that time is up I want to have a space on this blog that anyone who joined can post what they have written and we can all share what we each came up with off of one idea.
Like I said I will have to work out all the details on how to make this possible, but if there is anyone out there that would like to join know that this is going to be a place where we can all find a writing prompt and a place to share our work with one another.
If by chance you happen to know of a way that I can go about making a place on this blog for those who want to share to be able to do so, please let me know and I will look into your idea. I will try in the next couple of days to finish the prompt I have been working on, as well as looking for a new prompt to being the beginning of next month, which happens to be the beginning of a new year, so if you have always wanted to try your hand at writing something then join in the fun.
With me starting in the beginning of the month, know that you can start whenever you need to. I just ask that you give yourself a month if you need it. Obviously if you finish before the month is up, then once I have worked out the way of getting it on the blog you will be able to post when you are ready. I just ask that if you are going to be joining you stay within a one month period. I do not feel that there needs to be a set amount of pages or paragraphs for we are just trying to get ourselves into the habit of writing. Therefore just take the month and whatever you produce is what we want to see.
So I will be getting back to the writing for the time being and then when I find the one for January 2021 I will let you all know. Until then know that I am working on this one; At the library one afternoon doing research, your character notices an unusual photograph. Your character is immediately captivated by it. What’s in the photograph?
