So it took me a while to be able to listen to this book, but I did enjoy it a little more than the first one. I had an easier time listening to this one than the first one. That may have been because I had an interest in finding out what happens to the two main characters than I did in the first book. Again the only place I could find to listen to this book is through the Amazon Kindle app.
While the first book in this series shows the differences between the two girl’s lives and the way they go about doing the things they do, this book explores some of the things they learn to do for each other once they find a way to meet. It shows the differences of their upbringings as well as how they work to overcome their differences and include one another in life.
This book shows how even though you have a plan to make changes to things in the world and want to follow the path you are trying to make, other people may not understand what you are trying to do or even accept it. In this book, you also see how the whole world is affected by the actions of just a few people sometimes and even when we are trying to change things for the better there are people out there trying to keep us from doing so.
Sera Fitzempress has the opportunity to try and help the people of the kingdom by aiming to be made the ruler of the kingdom, she still has to go through many trials and learn more about the whole world and the things in it that have been a secret from all children and most of the working class. She finds that even though she has plans for the future and is trying her hardest to become the ruler she feels the kingdom can benefit the most from that others in the world have other ideas in mind and are trying to get her to make mistakes.
This book also shows us how even though we may go to the same places for learning and growing, we all learn things at our own rate and sometimes there are people who have a hard time grasping the things that they are being taught. There are times when someone is trying to learn something new and they cannot do so because the things that are going on in their life or the things that they are needing to learn the new information for are keeping their mind tied up in ways that do not allow them to maintain the information they are needing to learn. While learning is always the best for everyone some people have a harder time learning the things that they need to learn, and sometimes they cannot retain the things that they have learned. Even when you have been taught something, there are things in the world that can keep you from using the knowledge that you have gained in the way you are meant to use it, and this book has a great way of showing this.
Sera had plans and she included Cettie in her plans, but was unaware or did not want to see the way things were for Cettie that she wanted to make better for all the people like Cettie. She has good intentions, but Cettie has to inform her that the way she sees things is not the way that it is and is not the way that will be possible any time soon. Cettie does not want to hurt her friend, but has to look out for her own interest more than her friend. She knows that since they are from different areas of the world they cannot live the way her friend would like to. They can be friends, but they cannot be roommates for the rest of their lives. They both have to follow the path that is right for themselves and that may not be the same for both of them.
It is a well-written book and at the end of it, I want to continue to find out what is going to happen to the girls in their paths in life. I want to be able to see if they can overcome the challenges that have been set before them in their lives and rise to whatever else is going to happen to them. I would recommend this book to someone looking for a good read or listening to. While we all go through things differently in life I feel this book is a good way to show how we can
